CrossFit Level 1

Last weekend I took a CrossFit Level 1 Seminar and it was amazing! I'm hoping I passed the test. With all of my heart, I hate multiple choice! For about 90% of the questions, I knew the answer before reading the answers on the test. However, when I read the answers they all started to sound good. I went with the answer I thought of before I read the rest so I'm hoping that that pans out... :)

The seminar was at Rainier CrossFit in Sumner. They have a fantastic facility. There were trainers from several boxes (gyms) in the area and they did a wonderful job. They had the perfect combination of intensity, passion, and humor in their lectures and direct teaching. Very fun bunch to work with for two days.

Saturday was Day 1. We went through the basics of 6 out of 9 functional movements as well as learned the philosophy and methods behind CrossFit. After a couple presentations, and some hands on instruction, we performed the Workout of the Day (WOD). It was Fran. There are a multitude of benchmark workouts and they all have a name. This is what my WOD consisted of:

21-15-9

Thrusters
Pull-Ups

I won't get into detail on the workout. Click on the link above (FRAN) and you will see what it is. To get below 6 minutes for a female is awesome. The chick in the video did it in under 3 minutes. SHE IS A BEAST!! What did I get? 5:25 and it felt AWESOME. However...this is what my right hand looked like afterwards....

It looked worse than that but if you do enough pull-ups in a row, these things happen. :)

Day 2 was a little more relaxing. We covered the final 3 movements, worked out, then had a lecture on nutrition. We then broke for lunch, covered some last minute things and wrapped up with a test. Man I hope I aced it. It was 50 questions. Out of 50, 5 did not count but we don't know which ones those are. Overall we are scored out of 45 questions and at least 35 of those have to be correct in order to pass....EEKK!! I hope I passed!!

I should know either by the end of this week or next. I will keep you posted!
